Learn your body. Cultivate Authentic Calm. Turn on natural healing, your unique way.

What is Authentic Calm?

A genuine state of personal balance and restful ease that unlocks your body’s natural healing functions. Authentic Calm is cultivated in the body by creating space, communicating safety and walking through the 3-stage process.

What is involved in the 3-stage process?

Stage 1: Identify specific personal stressors within the body, in your mind and in your environment.

Stage 2: Soften and support the nervous system and thought patterns to begin easing into a new approach.

Stage 3: Shift the body and thought patterns using whole food, targeted nutrient support, flower remedies and more.

Understanding of your body’s unique language and nutrient needs.

Connection and understanding of your authentic self.

Activation of your natural healing state.

Release of physical and internal blocks.

Empowerment to continue self healing with tools to maintain your nourished body, activate your personal healing state and unblock!

How long is this process?

It will vary depending on your personal state of health, amount of functional testing needed and how ready you are for shifts. Stages 1-2 usually require about 1 month with 1-3 consults/sessions. Stage 3 greatly depends on your present state, holistic needs and how quickly you submit your lab kits. We begin with a review of your testing results and complete the stressor picture. From here, we move slowly and gently, scheduling as many consults as you want to support the continued softening and shifting around your identified stressors. The end of this stage is very hands off. At this point, you’ve been empowered with many tools to activate your ability to self-heal. I’m available for support and consults on an as needed basis. My goal is to empower you to cultivate a daily authentic calm without me. With focused dedication to the process, I would give yourself at least 5-6 months to complete the third and final stage.

What if I’m not sure what I need?

The intro consult is for you! If you are unsure where to start, have symptoms that you wish to eliminate or just wish to understand your current health state, schedule an intro consult. Whether you choose to move forward with my full Authentic Calm process or not you will walk away with a clear understanding of what you need to rebalance and find your authentic healthy self once again.

How much is Functional Lab Testing?

Lab testing costs will vary. I have an Authentic Calm panel I recommend to get a clear understanding of your current physical state. I’ll add or subtract from it depending on your specific needs. It can vary from $250-$1200 depending on how thorough you would like to be and how quickly you’d like to pinpoint your stressors. Functional blood chemistry and other lab tests are powerful tools to get a truly comprehensive look at your systems. They also provide a clear beginning from which we can measure improvement at a later date. Testing is one of the more important tools within this process. I’d highly recommend being prepared to do a at least one panel at the beginning and one at the end of our 4-stage process.

Do you take insurance?

Short answer: I do not.

Long answer: I do not fall under insurance coverage, but this is actually why I have the freedom to order comprehensive (thorough with all the markers you need) panels and spend longer than 15-30 minutes with you. Sadly, most physicians’ hands are tied due to insurance policies, unable to spend time with their patients or order what is necessary to truly identify disease, let alone pre-disease dysfunction. I do not diagnosis. I simply use testing to understand the functional state of your body and support your own ability to soften, shift and release your identified stressors. My hope is to provide you with the tools you need to maintain authentic calm and vibrant health for your lifetime.

Side Note: At times, FSA and HSA accounts can be used to cover supplement costs. I provide digital invoices/receipts for your reimbursement use.

What is holistic nutrition?

Holistic nutrition is both a science and an art. It’s the process of assessing the body’s foundational need for nutrients, not just to survive, but to heal and truly glow. Nutrition very simply put consists of two parts, vitamins and minerals, both of which make up the raw ingredients required for your body’s everyday function. There are two possible issues that arise within our bodies, over accumulation and under nourishment. Over accumulation occurs in the body when nutrients are consumed in a form the body cannot identify or interpret, usually because it’s not in its natural form, and as a result cannot break down. Not all unused food get’s stuck, but there are some that do and the build up of these nutrients can cause inflammation and greatly impact bodily function and lead to inflammation. Your gut and liver are often the first to become burdened by over accumulation. With states of under nourishment, certain nutrients are often missing from your daily food intake. This can occur if the soil your food came from was demineralized or if the food was refined and or isolated (like many synthetic vitamins). As as result, your body has to make up for the missing parts by scrounging around its own store houses, like your bones. As these sources begin to run out, the body will start compensating. This means prioritizing the life sustaining processes like your heart pumping over processes that are not considered vital like thinking clearly, sleeping well, maintaining a healthy weight, moving easily, aging beautifully, etc. Inappropriate nutrient retention and depletion can lead to dysfunction, allowing circumstances like opportunistic pathogens to take up residence and wreak havoc, eventually leading to disease.

What is your holistic nutrition approach?

My approach blends scientific and tactile measurements with thorough and intuitive guidance. Personalization is my passion, as I have travelled this road myself and experienced the world of one-size-fits all far too much. I prioritize calming the body, identifying and shifting stressors and supporting functionality of the digestive system in my practice. Once these are stable, then we focus on cultivating a personalized nourishing diet and lifestyle just for you.

To assist with supporting and shifting the body towards authentic calm, I use properly-prepared, real whole food, high-quality professional-level therapeutically-balanced nutrients (very different from what you’ll find in your health food or generic vitamin store) and wild harvested or organic botanicals to support your body’s natural healing process.

What is your perspective on food and diets?

Lifestyle over diet. Nourishment over elimination. Balance over extremes. Health over weight-loss. Progress over perfection. Joy over obsession.

I do not prescribe to one specific diet or approach. I prefer to look at you as a whole unique person. We may have you adjust your food and intake based on the current state of your body and then continue to readjust as you progress. You are not static. It’s a journey and a very personal one at that. No standard diet or trend can accommodate your continual growth and seasonal shifts. Instead, I teach you how to learn the language of your body so that you can simply listen to your needs in that moment and know what to eat.

On the whole, our culture tends to live in an alarmed / sympathetic state which means the body is not digesting, absorbing and properly eliminating food. I prefer to communicate safety and calm to your body, helping to release its grip on your nervous system. I do not agree with the idea of fasting, as this simply creates or furthers the alarm state of your body. Therefore I am a proponent of multiple small meals or three consistent meals throughout the day for most of my clients. By providing a steady flow of nutrients and energy to your body, this ultimately creates the stable environment your vital organs require to thrive and have a peaceful and properly-energized day.

When it comes to food choices and diet, quality and preparation are what matter. Research and cultural trends will continue to demonize or idolize certain foods and macronutrients (like fat, protein, and carbs). Instead of getting caught up in the noise, I prefer to see all whole truly natural, unaltered, unprocessed untreated food as a gift when sourced responsibly, prepared properly and eaten in a state of authentic calm.

Moderate to serious cases of illness, over accumulation or under nourishment may call for specialized approaches and removal or addition of certain foods for a season, but my goal is always to support the body’s ability to heal and return to the full variety. Food intolerance and sensitivity are often symptoms of infection, imbalance, toxic burdens, and/or improper associations by the body’s immune system. These types of cases should also be supported by a full practitioner team and understood to often require patience and time before returning to a more diverse diet.

Quick thoughts on weight-loss focused diets and exercise?

Many weight-loss-focused diets and weight-loss-focused intense fitness regimes can be more detrimental than helpful, especially if your body is not ready to lose the weight. Your mental readiness is very different from your body’s readiness. In fact, if your internal systems are already not prioritizing weight loss, taking extreme measures can actually cause your body to gain more weight. Excess weight is often a protective measure put in place by your body.

If you find that moderate daily exercise, such as walking, yoga, pilates, surfing, swimming or dance does not produce the results you are seeking, may I offer an alternative to intensifying your workouts? Instead of focusing on removing the weight, perhaps consider pursuing why it’s there in the first place. Begin to see the weight as a symptom and consider seeking assistance to determine its origin – which is often deeper than the simple act of overeating or not exercising enough. Lastly, by addressing weight solely with weight-loss-focused diets or intense forms of exercise, any loss you experience will often return with the slightest step out of line or week off. Address the foundational issues, return to your authentic nature, and then you’ll begin to enjoy a long-lasting healthy weight :).

Why do you use flower essence remedies?

The mind and heart are often the forgotten pieces in our journey towards whole and sustained healing. Trauma, disappointment, fear, anxiety, loss of control, subtle or overt childhood messages, impatience, heartbreak and many other internal manifestations impact our daily perspective, our view of the world. What lens do you see your work, family, friends, and life’s purpose through? Our self-worth is very tightly wrapped up in these foundational understandings and as a result can prevent us from moving forward mentally, emotionally and even physically. In line with the mission of returning to your authentic nature, I will encourage you to consider adding this beautiful modality to your support system.

I personally resonate best with Dr. Edward Bach’s original 38 essences that provided the documented research into flower essences effectiveness with various personalities. They are the most tried and true in my book and the essences I use in my practice and for myself. I source mine from the continuers of Dr. Bach’s legacy in England out of respect for his work, the guaranteed effectiveness of the essences and the authenticity of my own work.

What are Bach flower essences and what do they do?

Flower essences are a gentle, subtle healing modality that support the mental and emotional aspects of you. Developed by Dr. Edward Bach, the original 38 essences have been used since the 1930’s to cultivate healthy personhood.

"Edward Bach was born at Moseley, near Birmingham, in 1886 and trained as a doctor in London. For several years he worked investigating the role of bacteriology in chronic disease. His researches led him to recognize that there were clear personality types that related to the various patterns of ill health, irrespective of the physical symptoms being presented by the patient. Working with vaccine therapy and later with homeopathic remedies, he moved towards the discovery of flower remedies. These he felt could help to harmonize the emotional imbalances that he came to see as the real causes of physical illness.” Healing Herbs

Unlike homeopathy, essential oils, traditional herbal tinctures and drugs (which work more directly on the physical), these lovely essences gracefully balance your thought-patterns and emotions, shifting you towards a more peaceful whole state – what we might consider your authentic nature, the original you.

To define this a little more, I see your authentic nature in relation to your mind and spirit as the person you were in your very early years – your disposition, personality or perspective on the world prior to experiencing the positive or negative influence of family, friends, community, education, and culture. The intention is to return to this unique uninfluenced you, allowing for a release of the pain, anxiety, and confusion that has possibly arisen from conforming to something or someone that is not authentically you. Peeling back the onion layers of you and gently stepping back from habitual responses allows you to clearly see the world as you were originally and uniquely created to see it.

“The flowers hold a mirror to our emotional and psychological responses. They help us to understand how we each respond to change and offer us a way to work with problems and challenges. Put simply, the essences each contain a unique message (information), which we can use to alter our pattern of behavior. This is a voluntary process and not one that is enforced on the individual. The information is within the patterning of the plant and transferred in the special method of preparation devised by Dr Bach.” Healing Herbs

This message within the plant allows you the opportunity to change your thought process, your response, your behavior. In a way, it returns you to the crossroad, to the place of decision and choice, and offers you a more balanced path.

What should I expect once I start a remedy?

Flower remedies are here to serve as mind and emotion shifters, ultimately moving you back into your authentic balanced state – if you experience anxiety, taking a flower essence or a combination that will allow you to process the origin of this symptom and gently encourage you toward the opposite response will cause the rebalancing of your personhood. This form of thought-pattern shifting will occur the moment you begin your remedy, but you may not notice or feel it right away if this is your first bottle. Those that are more sensitive or have previously enjoyed a flower remedy will notice the shifts quite quickly.

The remedy starts by first increasing your self-awareness, this means you may notice yourself becoming more analytical or observant of yourself and others. Next, you may start noticing aspects of relationships that have never come to your attention before, perhaps unhealthy patterns or boundaries that you didn't even realize were being crossed.

As you approach week 3-4, plan to give yourself some extra grace and gentleness, creating space in your life and surrounding yourself with people that make you feel safe and relaxed. This is when the deeper blocks reveal themselves and the foundational shifts begin to take place. During this period, you may find yourself revisiting old thought patterns and experiences, because the flowers will create a safe space within you that will encourage your subconscious to reveal the block that ultimately led to your lighter symptoms. For example, a lighter symptom might be anxiety with a deeper block being a parental or school-induced trauma (big or small). It’s possible to experience dreams, memories, irritability or old physical behaviors that connect to this block. Your body and mind are literally reexperincing and reprocessing that core moment, but fortunately this time around you have the internal healthy and balanced messages from the plants to guide you through it. This gives you a balanced perspective on the original block and allows you to disassemble any lies or patterns that were created as a result. Revisiting symptoms and deeper blocks is the natural way our body heals and is commonly found in all forms of therapeutic recovery. The old adage of “things often have to get ‘worse’ before they can get better” is very poignant.

Everyone is incredibly different and comes from a unique background, so shifting can be very light or can be more intense. It really depends on the block. If these few weeks of processing ever becomes uncomfortable, please simply reduce your frequency by half and continue to do so until you feel comfortable again. You should never push yourself to a point of feeling overwhelmed. Immediately lower your frequency if it feels like too much. You can always pause your remedy, if you need a break as well. The internal shifting begins as soon as you take the flower remedy, so lessening your frequency or pausing will in no way cause reversion or loss of progress. It will simply slow the process and lessen the intensity.

You do not necessarily need to do anything extra over these 4 weeks, but I’ve found that journaling and/or sharing what is coming to the surface with someone you trust can support and quicken the process.

You will know the remedy has made successful shifts when you feel an unexpected lightness or peace about the former challenging, aggravating or consuming matter. This can occur within a few days or after a few bottles of the same remedy. It all depends on the depth of pattern or trauma you are working through and how open you are to the healing process.

What does a flower remedy consult involve?

It is my honor to simply listen, to hear your story, to understand where you come from and where you hope to go, to capture your personhood in the essence selection and with their help gently encourage your authentic restoration.

Using the world-renown Bach method, I will formulate a custom remedy to support your desired shifts. Depending upon your preference, we can focus on your present situational needs, to carry you through emergencies or short term dilemmas, and / or we can focus on uncovering your foundational core personhood, encouraging the layer lifting needed to return to your authentic nature.

What’s in my flower remedy?

Your flower remedy is composed of certified biodynamic, organic and wild-harvested flower essences, natural Carlsbad spring water and a small amount of traditionally-prepared brandy for preservation. If taken as directed, the remedy will last approximately 1 month and encourage a shift in mindset anywhere from a few days to 3 to 4 weeks following the first dosage.

Are flower essences & remedies safe for children?

Absolutely! Flower remedies do not directly impact the physical as experienced with traditional herbal tinctures or medications or even foods and are instead an incredibly gentle and energetic therapy many physicians rely on to support the emotional and mental state of our most sensitive ones – children and animals. There are no contraindications and if the remedy is not what the child needs the mind will simply ignore the messages and show zero shifts. When matched appropriately – meaning the essences connect with the foundational motivation of the child’s thought patterns or behavior – the child will often experience shifts within a few days. Most children are able to find relief with just one bottle, the only exception to this might arise if the trauma or thought pattern is deeply established in which a few bottles may be needed to support them through their process.

Each remedy includes 1 tsp of high-quality brandy in the 30 ml bottle to preserve and prevent bacteria growth if the dropper touches the tongue. You have the option of selecting an alcohol-free version for your younger ones. I’d highly recommend storing the remedy in the refrigerator in this case. Please simply note this request when you order.

What is the Calm Session about?

This unique and special session had been created to engage your natural state of rest, digest and detox, the parasympathetic state, the key to creating authentic calm. Many of us are stuck in our sympathetic state and as a result wake up exhausted, experience bloating, burping, indigestion, reflux, digestive pain, malnourishment, nutrient deficiencies, toxicity, constipation, an inability to recover or heal naturally and much more. In order to see the benefits of holistic nutrition and many other natural therapies the nervous system must be open and able to receive the support. I’ve found that many clients do not even know or remember what it feels like to be in a parasympathetic state, especially not for a full hour, so I developed this session to gently guiding your body into this necessary state. Within the session you will learn facial yoga, breathwork and other quick and easy techniques to activate or maintain your parasympathetic.

What should I expect?

Laying horizontal on either a yoga mat or massage table you will be guided through a few techniques including breathwork, facial yoga, colon massage and more to begin the deescalation of your nervous system followed by light energy work. If you are in-person you will enjoy far-infrared on a negative ion and EMF-free mat. As we engage your rest, digest and detox state, you may notice a softening of your body, rumbles in your digestive system and a quieting of the mind.

What are the benefits?

The calm session guarantees activation of your parasympathetic as well as reminds you what it feels like to deescalate your body, mind, and spirit when life is busy and moving fast. It will offer your body 60 minutes of deep rest, the space to activate and complete necessary processes, and make quicker strides towards a continual state of authentic calm and health. Lastly, it will empower you to continue these techniques on your own for a lifetime of authentic calm.

Who do you work with?

My specialty is to come alongside the exhausted, overwhelmed modern woman. I feel called to support her with personalized guidance, true nourishment and holistic care so that she might once again find joy and cultivate authentic calm in her everyday. I do also work outside my specialty. My clients often come to me because:

  • They have received a diagnosis from their medical doctor or are struggling with unexplained symptoms of poor health and wish to support their body’s natural healing systems as they progress through recovery.

  • They have watched family members or friends become ill and wish to start supporting their body now.

  • They wish to live a long, healthy, peaceful, and successful life, but are also aware of the current nutrient-deficient, stressful, and toxic state of their world and want a consistent, convenient resource for holistic support and natural recommendations.

What are you not?

I am not a licensed doctor, physician, therapist or psychologist. I do not provide medical care or advice, treat or diagnose conditions or prescribe medication. Instead, I simply support your body’s own natural healing responses. Please adhere to and remain in the care of a licensed medical physician while working with me. I will happily refer you out to a handful of holistic doctors, as well as this lovely therapist and this kind psychologist. Simply ask!

I am not a weight loss coach. If your body is ready to prioritize weight loss, it will happen naturally. If it is not falling off easily with gentle or moderate daily exercise, there are deeper foundational issues at hand. If this is of concern to you, I encourage you to remember that your body is prioritizing the deeper issue (whatever it may be) for your own survival. I would be honored to support you as you journey through the process of uncovering this foundational issue with nutritional, functional testing, flower remedies, energy work and more.

Why can’t I find a phone number for you?

I choose to interact with my clients through a private and protected client portal as often as possible. We live chat, message, video conference and more through it so that all our interactions are kept in one secure location and documented for easy reference. If you’re new to MW and would like to get in touch, please feel free to reach me here!

Advice for Your Journey

Any advice for my health journey?

From the many years of journeying through the highs and lows of supporting my own body’s process of healing, here are my short and very honest recommendations…

  1. Make and take the time to understand yourself – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

  2. Find a practitioner or ideally a team of practitioners you connect with and trust on a soul-level.

  3. Once you’ve found them, spend the money. I know. This one was really hard for me at first too.

  4. Be a detective alongside your practitioner(s) and uncover the initial dysfunction that led to the symptoms.

  5. Be honest with yourself and your practitioner(s).

  6. Find the support you need to face your fears.

  7. Through it all, be gentle on your body and honor your spirit.

  8. Continue to ask why.

  9. Learn and grow in patience.

  10. Ultimately, trust yourself and your body over what anyone else recommends.

I wish I had heard this advice from day one. Looking back, my biggest regret was my impatience with the process and fear of the cost of pursuing holistic health. I would have progressed much sooner had I not bounced around from practitioner to practitioner, avoiding costs and seeking quicker improvements. Hindsight is everything.

What about you? What fears, worries, frustrations have held you back? How can you shift into a place of reception and kindness towards yourself?

Whether through my practice or another, I truly wish you ease and peace in your wellness journey. You are precious and deserve the deepest love and care there is to offer. May you fully feel and embrace your unique irreplaceable value – just as you are today.

With love,

Jessi Agadoni Merfleur Wellness Holistic Nutritionist & Flower Remedy Practitioner & creator of Authentic Calm
